Lunch Time Intramural Program

Monday to Thursday from 12:00- 12:25

This program offers students the opportunity to participate in activities to extend our Fun, Fitness and Fair play philosophy at Terrace Ridge School. Activities are held on the soccer field in the fall and spring and in the gym when weather is a factor. Students are placed on teams to encourage peer interactions and sportsmanship as recognition is given for participation during their scheduled intramural time. There are two divisions- grade 3 & 4 and grades 5, 6,& 7.

Golf Team

Each fall Terrace Ridge School sends one team of girls and one team of boys (four players per team) to the Wolf creek Golf Tournament. In order to become part of this team, players must bring a signed score card from a golf course of the year they are wishing to participate. Scores from a Par 3 course are not acceptable. Team members are then selected based upon the cores turned in by students. This is a Junior High event; however, students in grade 6 may participate on this team if numbers warrant.

Cross Country Running Team

This team is available to all students in grades 5, 6, & 7 during September and October each year. Practice sessions run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants are asked to run with the supervisor 3 or the 4 days. The distance for this age group is 2 km. There are two meets that our school attends- Wolf Creek Cross Country Meet and the CWAJHSAA (Central West Junior High School Athletic Association ), which are usually held in October.

Volleyball Team

Terrace Ridge School is a member of the Wolf Creek Junior High Athletic Association (WCJHAA), which enables us to join a developmental league for our teams. We offer both girls and boys volleyball teams and depending on the number of participants we may play in the WCJHAA league. This league runs from September to the end of October. This is a Junior High event; however, students in grade 6 may participate on this team if numbers warrant.

Basketball Team

Terrace Ridge School is a member of the wolf Creek Junior High Athletic Association (WCJHAA), which enables us to join a developmental league for our teams. We offer both girls and boys basketball teams and depending on the number of participants we play in the WCJHAA league. This league runs from November to the end of February. Curling Club

Terrace Ridge School provides an after school curling club for students in grades 5, 6, & 7. Dates and times for this club are determined each year depending on ice availability.

Badminton Club

Terrace ridge School offers students in grades 5, 6, & 7 the opportunity to learn basic badminton skills. There are usually separate clubs offered for each grade level. However, the Grade 7 students compete for the opportunity to become a member of the Terrace Ridge School Badminton Team and attend Wolf Creek tournaments. This sport runs from march to the end of April.

Track and Field

The grade 7 students train for the track & field events during school allotted time. Part of the training for this activity is in conjunction with the co-operative training program with the Ecole Lacombe Composite High School's physical education department. Student volunteers and their teacher work at Terrace Ridge School with all grade 7 students to introduce each event to ensure proper technical development and safety requirements. Students compete in a full day track & field meet at the Ecole Lacombe Junior High School at the end of May and qualifiers from this meet then proceed to compete at the Wolf Creek Track & Field meet in Ponoka in early June. All meets are held on a school day.
